AWR Announces Industry-First Signal Integrity Solution for High-Frequency Electronics Design
AWR SI 2005 Design Suite Provides Capability for Designing as well as Analyzing Complex Interconnects
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — April 18, 2005 — Applied Wave Research, Inc. (AWR®) a leading provider of high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA) tools, today announced AWR SI 2005 design suite (www.appwave.com/products/si), the industry's first cross-domain signal integrity (SI) solution specifically developed for designing and analyzing high-frequency, high-speed electronics circuits. Engineers can now identify, analyze, and fix signal integrity issues early in the design cycle, ensuring that their designs work correctly the first time and speeding time to market.
This powerful new software suite combines the unique AWR Design Environment™ and unified data model with a signal integrity analysis environment, providing comprehensive, easy-to-use analysis capabilities that work seamlessly in one unified platform. The solution supports multiple process technologies, enabling concurrent design and signal integrity analysis of complex interconnects spanning chip, package, module, and printed circuit board (PCB) design boundaries.
AWR SI 2005 provides comprehensive signal integrity analysis capabilities built on top of ground-breaking Analog Office Intelligent Net™ (iNet) technology, an industry-first, interconnect-driven/radio-frequency (RF) aware methodology focused on accurate RF/microwave interconnect modeling and analysis throughout the entire design process. The AWR SI software suite also includes support for multiple, best-in-class electromagnetic (EM) simulation and analysis tools, as well as a wide variety of modeling formats such as SPICE netlist, IBIS models, and S-parameter blocks. AWR's powerful, unique harmonic balance simulator is integrated with Synopsys' HSPICE, enabling the fastest, most accurate, highest capacity simulations from a single, physically accurate schematic.
"As frequencies and bandwidths go above a few hundred megahertz, regardless of whether the design is digital, analog, or RF/microwave, traditional signal integrity runs up against limitations in the basic physics of the solution," said Dr. Michael Heimlich, director of module solutions at AWR. "Integrated circuit, module, and PCB designers have told us that a more comprehensive and more accurate signal integrity solution is needed. The AWR design environment has been architected from the ground up to solve gigahertz design problems. What makes the AWR SI solution so unique is the seamless combination of the AWR unified chip/package/module/PCB data model with powerful layout-based design and simulation, accurate frequency-domain modeling with time-domain analysis, and the tightest integration to industry-preferred module/PCB tools and EM solutions."
