AMD EPYC processor for SIPI Pro simulations
Hello,
I'm just checking for a new Dual processor Workstation for ADS simulations.
Does anybody has already experience with the new EPYC Processors (e. g. 7351) ?
Theoretically they should have a good price/performance ratio, but I'm not sure if ADS mitht use any features in Intels processors that would be not supported with the AMD processor.
Also performance might depend on calculations done by the software and especially memory accesses..
Guess the alternative woudl be an E5-2683V4 dual processor system (would like to stay below 10k Euro with at least 256GB of memory).
if anybody has some Experience or recommendations for such a platform every feedback is highly appreciated!

I don't have any knowledge of these processors. You might want to contact the Europe Technical Support center and ask if they have any comments.
Hi, seems these processors have not been tested so far. I do not expect compatibility issues. For most applications these new AMD processors deliver more performance per $. I think the quesiton is if ADS is complied optimized for AVX instructions.. If so Intel can be much faster vs. AMD...
