non-real CPW solution

录入:edatop.com    点击:

I have a situation where I am getting a non-real solution to my momentum problem. I started out with a capacitor coupled psuedo lumped element resonator tied to a CPW line. I got some funky results, so I effectively removed the coupling capacitor to the resonant circuit and tried again. I get GAIN at approximately the resonant frequency of the circuit (which shouldn't be physcially possible). I've tried different mesh densities etc to no avail. Is anyone at Keysight interested in trying out my circuit to see why the simulation is failing? It's quite possible it's something I've done, but shouldn't the simulator check for non-physicality?

Nevermind...I had used the 337 ohm ground plane thinking that would represent air below...as soon as I put a ground plane, everything works as expected.

Looking at your ground pins, I recommend to also check my appnote on defining finite size ports:

https://muehlhaus.com/support/ads-application-notes/edge-area-pins:Dr. Mühlhaus Consulting & Software GmbH » Edge/Area pins in Momentum EM simulation

You don't want the ground of the ports to extend across the entire edge of that ground polygon. You can check the present modelling by looking at current density. This will show if ground current at the ground ports is physical (near gap) or spreads across the entire edge (not physical).

Best regards,

Volker
