Stepping a variable to plot a family of curves
Dear Forum,
I have a case where I have extracted an array of Z12 mutual inductance between two inductors moving relative to each other as in the case of an NFC device. If I use ADS, I would like to use two fixed inductors and iterate through a list (or an array) of values I extracted from another tool to look at the voltage induced from one inductor to the other as a function of position.
The issue I have is I don't know how to do this in ADS. In spice, we can use ".step param X list 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6" which causes spice to loop through all these values and plot a family of curves. How can I do the same in ADS?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
I guess no one has done this huh? Well I have been reading too, and I have not been able to find a way to enter an array of my own points so it can use them to solve it. It only allows ranges but it doesn't allow my own custom points.
I have tried several websites and other tutorials but none do what I want. So this appears to be not possible with this tool and very simple in Spice.
You can do a parameter sweep, use a Sweep Plan, and enter a list of points.

This is very easy in ADS as well!
Let's start with a more simpler example using data from an ADS datset instead. In a seperate schematic I simulated an impedance that varies with frequency. (Don't mind the technical details..). This schematic was called 'VaryingImpedance' and as a result the corresponding dataset will be called 'Varyingimpedance.ds'. Now in another schematic (shown below) I can easily access this data using an 'DataAccessComponent' and I can add the 'Z_tran' in my schematic as a Term-component.
Now for data that comes from another application it follows the same procedure expect for the fact that you will have to find and output a datafile-format compatible with the DataAccessComponent.
