Question about the CPW component in ADS

录入:edatop.com    点击:
Hi,

I am new to ADS and I am trying to learn it. First, I designed a microstrip in schematic (using lineCalc), simulated it, created a layout, simulated the layout. Both simulations gave similar results. That was great!

Now, I'm trying to design and simulate a coplanar wave guide. In schematic, I added the CPW component as well as the appropriate substrate. From the help file, the component seems what I need: a microstrip in the middle of two infinite gnd planes.

The problem is found when I generate the layout: I get just a rectangle on a slot substrate. If I visualize it with 3D EM preview, it's just a rectangular slot cut in the substrate and not: sub, space, strip, space, sub.

I tried to draw the component by hand (using two rectangles) and I used coplanar ports. This seems to work! However, I would like to have my layout integrated with the circuit schematic.

What am I doing wrong? Does the CPW component just not work in layout mode!? Why does it only draw one rectangle instead of two (that would produce a CPW on a slot substrate)?

Thanks a lot!
