ADS simulation of a voltage dependant resistor

录入:edatop.com    点击:
I want to make a resistor whose resistance varies depending on the RF voltage at a wire or port?
I have tried for several hours but no progress so far.
I saw in another post that Z1P_Eqn component might be used but I am not an expert user by any means, I mainly use SPICE.

Thanks

Describe it by SDD or Verilog-A.

Hi Pancho, thanks for reply.
I am doing this with a SDD2P component at the moment which means that the resistor element I was looking for is a current source which is not quite the same.

I dont know anything about verilog.

What I am trying to do is make a simple rf power fet model based on a votlage variable resistor whose resistance varies according to the input voltage. It is so easy to do this in Spice.

The way to create a frequency dependent resistor in ADS is to use the Z1P_Eqn component.

ADS : How to simulate frequency dependent resistor (and inductance)

Hi RealAEL, thanks for reply. However I am trying to make a voltage dependent resistor which I can then use as a simple model of a RF MOSFET where the instantaneous gate voltage changes the resistance value according to a simple equation.
In free LTspice I can do this in seconds, but ADS has me stumped.

It's very easy.
Attached example is a voltage controled resistor where
R=Roff for Vc<Voff
R=Rx_hspice(Vc) for Voff<=Vc<=Von
R=Ron for Vc>Von

ADS is more powerful and versatile in ability of behavioral description than SPICE.

Thanks pancho, I could not find the attachment, where is it located?

ok I see it now, I will give it a try. Thanks again !

Pancho, thanks for reply.

In my ADS I only have SDD2P not SDD2Pform, not sure if they are different.
Can I add all these equations with SDD2P? I am an ADS beginner.

Also I am not following the math.
None of the variable names are defined so I am mostly guessing what you are doing.

If you assume that the input voltages are always positive would that remove many of the confusing equations?

Use SDD2P.
Attached figure is from MDS which is one of ancestors of ADS.

Currently I use Verilog-A instead of SDD even in ADS.
We can use any behavioral models in any vendor's simulator such as HSPICE, Spectre and Eldo, etc. if we describe them by Verilog-A.

Not necessary.
I prepaire two ypes of resistor for Voff<=Vc<=Von.
(1) Rx_hspice(Vc)
(2) Rx_pspice(Vc)
If you don't use Rx_pspice(Vc), you don't have to write related variables.

Show me equations which you want to implement.

Can you understand ADS netlist ?
All variables are defined in schematic.
I use Ron, Roff, Von and Voff as pass parameters.

Again show me equations which you want to implement.

Thanks Pancho,

I will get back to this but I was able to move forward with the level 3 MOSFET model.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to remove all the left over net labels on the schematic once a wire is deleted?

Actually I was not even able to work out how to add these equations to the SDD2P, I am beginner.

Surely Read documents of ADS.

I[1,0]=0
I[2,0]=_v2/Rsw

User "VAR Component" instead of "EQUATION".

Is there any relation to this thread ?
Your questions are no more than easy usage of ADS schematic editor and have no relation to this thread.

If you have questions which have no relation to this thread, start different thread.

Just trying to save starting a new thread over every detail. Also for some reason I cannot post here yet.
