Microstrip antenna using ads

录入:edatop.com    点击:
Hi,
I'm a beginner to ADS Software, using it for the first time. I have been asked to design a microstrip antenna with following specifications :

Frequency = 10 Ghz
Input impedance = 100 Ohms
W= 1.186cm
L= .906cm
Duriod RT/5880
Er=2.2
h= .0625

How do i do it ? How to do matching? Please help me. if you have any document which explains all the steps. and how to calculate Zo. etc.

thanks a lot.

Since you are given the dimensions you dont really need to design much. You can easily create the patch by drawing a rectangle in momentum. Then:
1. Place the port (this is the only thing you have to figure out, you may use pin feed whic is just placing a port on the patch or you can create a microstrip leading to the patch)
2. momentum> substrate>create/modify (just change the Er and height)
3. momentum> simulation> S parameters (select the sim frequency and run)
4. Display your results

let me know if you get stuck, I am pretty sure there are many ADS tutorials on the internet, keep looking.

chech out these pdfs!

Hi MKonca,
Thanks for your response.. Yes i figured out till now, but using the above values iam not getting the output less than -10dB , so inorder to do that i need to matching for which the resistance is given to me.. I need help in it as in how to do matching( i think we need to use some linecalc function?) but what after that.? Do you know more details about it..

thanks again for your response.

regards,

Since you are trying to match to 100 ohms you should change your port impedance to 100 and see how is your matching. what kind of a feed did you end up using?
