awr data file to spice file
or from datasheet to a spice file ?
from s-para data file, you can use spice-model-generator in ADS to create a spice model.
are it this Broadband SPICE Model Generator - ADS 2009 - Agilent ?
In AWR, you can create SPICE output. In the project tree, go to Output Files > Add Output File > Spice Extraction
I do not know how good that is for complex wide band data.
Stand alone broad band SPICE extraction tools are available from Sigrity and idemworks, for example.
Broad band SPICE extraction is also available from within Sonnet Professional and the latest Agilent ADS release.
Ok Thanks for the info i go look

i have go to Output Files > Add Output File > Spice Extraction
form data bud the netlist are now not good
is there someone how you can do
from data file to netlist ? with the awr design software
Hello Kippy,
Is this S-parameter data file is an active device data file?
Or is it Passive device or ciruit measured ata file?
Do you get any warings or errors while extracting?
As Volker mentioned You need to first set your project options units etc. then import the data file & plot...
Make sure you select finer frequency steps & interpolation options in the Project options tab...
Now you go to Output Files > Add Output File > Spice Extraction (keep the maximum S-parameter Erorr value 1e-5 ) & then simply import back the netlist & plot...
You should getback the response similar to data file if not, there may be some issues with the s-parameter data file see the warnings
& I suggest you to upload the same here so that some one will help you....
Hello Manju,
I have a motrola data file bfr92. S2P
i go to add data file import data file the Output Files > Add Output File > Spice Extraction (keep the maximum S-parameter Erorr value 1e-5 )
save the bfr 92 then go to add netlist import netlist subcircuit i see netlist bfr 92 2 port explicit ground node
place the on my schematic go analyze no error bud see the give no power and many current ?
i go to libraries go to a bfr92 philips the place to the schematic and then works well ? give power no many current
how you explain that ? what am i doing wrong ?
If you start with linear S-parameter data, the resulting SPICE model for your transistor will of course be a linear model, and does NOT replace a nonlinear transistor SPICE model.
Hello Kippy,
Okay now I understood your problem...
The motrola S-param data file bfr92. S2P is a measured data at perticular bias conditions & it is only linear data or a model which you cann't use for
Nonlinear analysis (Voltage/Current, Power) in any CAD simulation tools including AWR MWO...But you can perform linear analysis, & design matching network for this model...
Hence you cannnot extract spice model for the same & it is invalid...
Regarding the philips (nxp) bfr92 it is nonlinear spice model hence you can plot IV Curves & you can do nonlinaer HB simulations including swept power analysis....
I hope now you are alble to follow...
yes Manju
i unsterstood now how this works
but can you from S-parameters from data sheet with a software generator a spice file build or is it not possible ?
i have here a bfr96T from vishay this transistor are different as the philips bfr96 that,s the problem now
the simulator give bfr96 philips little power and current
but build this on mij pbc the bfr96T give more power and more current.
is very different.
It is NOT possible to build a complete non-linear transistor model from the S-parameter file. The model will only be valid for small signal at exactly the operating point from the S-parameters, and must be used WITHOUT additional DC bias and supply connections. These are already "built into the model".
Ok thanks for the info

Hello Manju,
i have another question i see libraries-infineon-GBJT bfr106 then place on the schematic this give 4 port with S
but the transistor have 3 port how can it change with properties that does not work ?
Hello,
the fourth port S is "substrate" node, connect this port to ground...
OR
use GBJT3 or GBJT model from MWO Elements => Nonlinear => BJT
enter the same parameters as of infineon bfr106 device as seen from pspice model taxt file...
GBJT3 & GBJT4 are same models but only has additional S node which you can ground...
