I can't image what need to be further improved in IE3D. It seems to me that it is almost 100% perfect in terms of accuracy, speed and easy operation ! Mostly important, IE3D allows me to feel CONFIDENCE !

I just realize that NEC2 softwares, such as nec2c or 4nec2, are awesome to simulate wire antennnas! Moreover, they are no cost except "download cost"..!

Plz check them via Mr. Google :D

HFSS is good but it's quite advanced

I just realize HFSS is good.

HFSS is really very good

I like to use CST microwave studio

IE3D is batter for antenna design

hi
one thing you can use is sonnet. u can download free version from www.sonnetusa.com

Has anyone used AMDS?

http://eesof.tm.agilent.com/products/amds_main.html

t think AWR/microwave office is easy to use
n for 3D HFSS/antsoft
pcaad for making the trnsmission line
microstrip 4.0 ...its ok

Hi,

For planar structure IE3D is suitable when compared to other tool .because IE3D is very user friendly.

What about FEKO?

HFSS+FEKO+ MNAMA+802.11b Horn Antenna Designer (http://users.skynet.be/chricat/horn/...avascript.html)

Hello All,

This my opinion & experience on Antenna Design Software...
Here may be lot of specilists & antenna engineers mentioned about their choice,
but no one mentioned about their experience & the antenna types the software can handle...

Here are some of the inputs..

The right Simulation method for Right type of Antenna Design & Analysis

Full 3D MOM solver is good for following Antennae
Helix,
Conical log periodic,
TEM Horns, etc

Commercial Packages: Concerto CLASP, EM3DS, etc...

Full 3D FDTD solver or Full 3D MOM Solver is good for following Antennae
Dipoles and monopoles,
Yagi-Uda periodic,
Patch,
Reflectors, etc

Commercial Packages: Vector Fields Concerto Quickwave, CST-MWS, etc...

Full 3D FDTD solver or full 3D FEM Solver is good for following Antennae
Aperture antennas,
Multilayered Broadband Patch Antennas,
Various Horns (all types), etc

Commercial Packages: Vector Fields Concerto Quickwave, CST-MWS, Ansoft-HFSS, etc...

3D Planar MOM EM Solver is good for following Antennae
Micostrip Patch Antennas,(all shapes)
Multilayered Patche for diffrent feeding types,
Planar Patch Array Antennas, etc

Commericial Packages: IE3D, Sonnet, MWO, Momentum, etc

I encourage other antennae specialist can add to the list....

ie3d is batter for antenna solfware design

What about Agilent's AMDS?
I heard it is dedicated specifically for antenna design and is extremely fast.

PS:
In benchmark of PIFA antenna simulation, HFSS took 22 hrs and AMDS took about 30 min to come to the same answer

hi,

Manjunatha_hv has mentioned some useful information..........

Adding to this topic,
HFSS is best, Accurate, reliable but requires more simulation time, more memory and costlier than others.

I prefer SuperNec from Poynting. It is good, easy to use and accurate with 2D and 3D simulation. EM.Cube from EMagWare.com is also very useful and has propagation simulation features.
