CST2013: Farfield Plot – Decoupling Plane
Farfield Plot: Plot Properties Properties Decoupling Plane
For farfield simulations with models containing an infinite PEC-plane, a decoupling plane must be applied to separate both half spaces for the farfield calculation (e.g. a coplanar antenna with infinite PEC-plane on a substrate). This plane can be defined either by automatic detection or by corresponding user settings.
Here, you can also take into account a lossy dielectric plane (i.e. lossy ground) that is contained in the calculation domain and should be extended to an infinite plane for the farfield calculation.
Automatic detection
If checked, the program will detect if a decoupling plane is present and where to place it. Otherwise, you may define a plane using the settings below. Note that lossy dielectric planes are not detected automatically.
Plane type frame
None: Check here to deactivate the decoupling or lossy dielectric plane.
Decoupling plane: Activation of the automatic or user defined decoupling plane.
Lossy dielectric plane: Activation of the lossy dielectric plane. This setting is currently only available for the plot mode E-Field. The lossy ground is always assumed to be below the antenna (i.e. in negative coordinate direction).
Plane settings frame
Plane normal: Define here the normal orientation of the decoupling plane parallel to an axis direction X, Y or Z.
Position X / Y / Z: Enter here the center coordinate of your plane in normal direction.
Epsilon: Enter here the epsilon value for the lossy dielectric plane.
Conductivity: Enter here the conductivity value for the lossy dielectric plane.
OK
Stores the current settings and closes the dialog box. Depending on the new settings, a new plot of the farfields will be calculated. The calculation can be aborted by pressing the Abort button.
Apply
Stores the current settings leaving the Farfield Plot tab sheet opened. Depending on the new settings, a new plot of the farfields will be calculated. The calculation can be aborted by pressing the Abort button.
FF View / Preview
Use this button to switch between farfield view and coordinate system preview. The latter hides the farfield and shows only the structure together with the currently active decoupling plane in respect to the defined coordinate system. In addition, Bistatic RCS results visualize the exciting plane wave. Leaving the preview mode with pressing Close restores axes, origin, and mirror plane settings.
Abort
Aborts the current calculation. Note that the last plot has been deleted. You will have to calculate a new plot by making the appropriate settings and pressing the OK or Apply button again.
Close
Closes this dialog box without performing any further action.
