CST2013: Frequency Domain Solver Overview - Resonant: S-Parameter, fields
The Resonant: S-Parameter fields solver is of special interest if scattering parameter matrices and fields monitors are required. The system is transformed into frequency domain and an eigenmode bases combined with a special Lanczos method is used to reduce the system size. From the much smaller system matrix, the transfer function and the scattering parameter matrices are calculated. Please note, the resonant solver with fields is currently only for lossfree structures with waveguide/discrete ports available. Additionally, electric and magnetic boundaries are supported.

Scattering parameter matrices (S-Parameter)
Electromagnetic field distributions at various frequencies (see monitors)
Structure design by using the optimizer or the parameter sweep
Spice network extraction
How to start the solver
Before you start the solver, you should make all necessary settings. See the Frequency Domain Solver Settings - Resonant: S-Parameter, fields for details. The Resonant solver can be started by selecting Home: Simulation Start Simulation .
Solver logfile
After the solver has finished you may view the logfile by selecting Post Processing: Manage Results Logfile Solver Logfile. The logfile contains information about solver settings, mesh summary, solver results and solver statistics.
