line feed patch antenna with CST
Hello leony,
please under examples>transient>antennas. There is an example already included with the software.

Thanx for your help.I did an antenna with edge feed and could obtain a 50 Ohm line impedance. But i thought that I should use an inset line to obtain 50 Ohm without transformers and use transformers with edge feed.So with my edge feed design I need no transformers. Is this correct?
Hi,
There are many ways of feeding a microstrip p@tch antenna. Inset fed and edge fed are both used. Even matching using a quarter wave transformer is done in practice. If you use edge feed, the impedance goes as sin(x/W) where 'x' is the offset and 'W" is the p@tch width. If you use inset feed the impedance goes as cos2(2x/L) where x is the inset and 'L is the p@tch length. You are right, if you use edge feed, you don't need a quarter wave transformer. I am not aware of how the bandwidth achieved in both cases compare. May be someone who is knowledgeable can throw some light on this.
